Into Tomorrow Product Spotlight with Rob Almanza

Congratulations to all the grads! Parents and friends: We hope the following helps you narrow down your gift search for your graduate.

Hava Titanium HD WiFI

1) Hava Titanium HD WiFi

With the Hava Titanium HD unit from Monsoon Multimedia, you can watch and control your home TV from anywhere you are with your computer or cell phone, as long as you’re connected to the Internet. You can pause, rewind or record live TV shows directly to your PC or external storage device. Hava connects to your DVR, cable box, or satellite receiver and you can control them easily, just like you would do with your remote control at home.

The model we tested is their Titanium HD WiFi and is available under $250. There are other less expensive models available.

Apple iPod Touch2) Apple iPod Touch

The iPod Touch is a good balance between work and fun. We like to think it’s like the iPhone, but without the phone part. Although, you can actually now convert it into a phone using Skype. It works really well. You can download it for free from the App Store.

What we like most about the iPod Touch are the apps you can download. There are a lot of productive tools that your grads will find helpful, whether they’re graduating from high school or college. And, there’s plenty of entertaining ones, too. You’ll find there are a lot available for free!

Don’t forget it’s also an iPod, so you can load it up with your music, videos and podcasts. You can also access email and other tools, as long as you have a WiFi connection.

Starts at under $230.

BACtrack Breathalyzer3) BACtrack Breathalyzer

Want to be DUI-free and for a lot less money? Why not carry your own breathalyzer?

The BACtrack is pretty slick and fits comfortably in your pocket. Just make sure you remember to take it out after your first drink. Instructions are easy to follow and requires a one-button operation.

Don’t forget to share with your friends and family. The BACtrack keeps sharing in mind since there is no mouthpiece.

DUI-free at just around $80.

Netbook: Eee PC 1000HE4) Netbooks

They have become the next “it” thing in the computer world. Netbooks are designed with one thing in mind -- Internet. They’re great for college students and for the businessman or woman entering the real world as they are portable and can be very productive. Netbooks can be found at under $200, much more budget-friendly than regular notebooks.

There are many options available. To help you pick one, check out Laptop Magazine’s “Top 5 Netbooks” picks.

Did you find this helpful? Send us an email. Let us know what you bought for your grad.
