Into Tomorrow Product Spotlight with Rob Almanza
Keep in touch with loved ones that do not have an email address or Internet. Learn how SunnyGram can connect your emails with their mailbox.
Sometimes we forget there are slow adopters, especially some of the older folks that are not connected to the Internet. For example, Dave Graveline’s dad is old school and is not online. Dave communicates via email with everyone, including his staff and family. You can understand his dilemma when he can’t send his dad an email.
There’s a new service called SunnnyGram that fills in that gap. They turn your emails into letters that are then mailed to a family member you specify.
How it works: You or any family member or friend sends a message to an assigned email address. (i.e. “dad@sunnygram.com”) Your message is then aggregated and personalized into a newsletter format. When the letter arrives, your recipient can reply for free by pre-paid letter or through a toll-free phone system. Their written replies are scanned and emailed to you. Phone messages are sent as a sound clip attachment via email as well.
There is no limit to the number of people who can send emails. Once you've created the email address for your loved one, you can share it your family and friends. The SunnyGram newsletters are sent once a week. Between newsletters, all of the emails are collected and formatted for the next dispatch.
One of our favorite offerings is that you can send high-resolution digital pictures with your messages, which are then printed into a newsletter. Picture messages are limited to up to 20 images and up to 20 MB total for the entire message. Supported image formats include: JPEG, TIFF, GIF, PNG, PCX and BMP.
We’re very impressed with SunnyGram and recommend it to families with loved ones that aren’t online. There is a monthly service fee of about $9.95, but they offer a 1-month trial for FREE! Find out more at SunnyGram.com.
What do you guys think? Could you use a service like this, especially with an older family member not online? Share your thoughts with us via email.
