Into Tomorrow Product Spotlight with Rob Almanza
Want to find your way back easily to your car? How about your favorite fishing place? Check out the Ecco Personal Pocket GPS Locator.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve “mis-parked” my car in a large parking garage. Sometimes it takes me longer looking for my car then I spent shopping. IDC Design Corporation has a device that can help you get back to your car easily. The Ecco Personal Pocket GPS Locator keychain, guides you back to any outdoor location you specify, like your favorite fishing spot, back to camp if you’re hiking, back to your hotel, or where in the world did you park your car outside the mall.
The device is very portable and can be kept with your keys, so you’ll have it handy. After you give it a charge and calibrate it, the Ecco is ready to go.
It’s very important for you to calibrate the Ecco before first time use and whenever you take it farther than 100 miles.
When you power it “ON”, it will begin searching for a satellite signal – like any other GPS device. This takes a little longer then we’d like, but then, you hit “lock” and store the location in one of the 3 presets.
When it’s time to find your way back to your saved location, you hit “return” and select the preset. The digital compass will then guide you right to it. It can track locations up to 10,000 miles. Ecco counts down how far you are – in feet, miles or meters – from where you’re going. We would prefer it if it made a noise (or beep) when you reach your location. Maybe version 2?
The Ecco retails under $90. But, you can win one in our Cool "Into Tomorrow" Hot Summer Giveaway. Enter Here!
